Hyperdocs are a really great concept. Your entire lesson on one document. The creators of Hyperdocs use Google Docs in all their sample content. I used to say they work just as well in Microsoft Word. I can’t say that anymore, because they are now so much better in Microsoft Word. Buckle up for Day 120 of 365 Ideas for #Microsoft365– Microsoft Word for the ultimate Hyperdocs. What is a Hyperdoc? Let’s make sure we all know what we’re talking about with Hyperdocs. At first glance, it looks like you just have a document with links (hyperlinks) to all of the content and activities theRead More →

Table of Contents are easy to create in Word.  So is making them clickable.  Welcome to Day 85 of 365 Ideas for Office 365.  Clickable Table of Contents.  Yesterday we showed you how to add visual structure and accessibility to your Word documents by utilizing the Heading Style to create collapsible menus in Microsoft Word.  An interactive Table of Contents is another way to achieve these goals. Purpose of Clickable Table of Contents Like yesterday’s topic, adding a table of contents to a Word document makes it much easier to both create and navigate longer documents but also to make any length document more accessible. Read More →

Dictation is a good example of Universal Design for Learning.  Universal design means designed for everyone.  UDL borrowed certain ideas from universal design in architecture, like curb cuts that were designed for people with disabilities, with wheelchairs or walkers, which then become useful for people with shopping carts and strollers.  Dictation is certainly an accessibility tool, a fantastic one.  But it’s great for anyone who needs to type without typing, I mean, hands-free.  Welcome to Day 41 of 365 Ideas for Office 365. Of course how well the dictation works will depend on the ambient noise in the room, and it will obviously function betterRead More →

Throughout this series I have used OneNote online to show the Immersive Reader tools.  Word online looks exactly the same- it has all the same features, including Translation.   Keep in mind that the Math tools are under the Draw tab, not the View tab; they are not part of Immersive Reader and are not in Word (yet?)  We have made it to Day 20 of 365 Ideas for Office 365. Immersive reader looks different and has a smaller selection of features in Word on the desktop, OneNote 2016 and the OneNote app. OneNote 2016 Here is what it looks like in OneNote 2016. Welcome to Day 17 of 365 Ideas for Office 365.  Read Aloud in Other Languages.  68 Languages.  I’m back from several days of getting spoiled by Nearpod at Nearpod Transform in Ft. Lauderdale,  and on my way to NCCE in Seattle, so the posts may still be spotty this week, but we still have almost 350 ideas to get through, so let’s do this. Microsoft and Google There are many things that you can do in both Google and Microsoft’s education and productivity tools.  There are also some things that each excels in.  Google keeps their tools beautifully simple.  (See what I did there?)
