PowerPoint is currently rolling out the new Live feature, which includes several capabilities that are even more valuable during these days of remote learning. I am excited that Day 110 of 365 Ideas for Microsoft 365 is about PowerPoint Live. This is a web-based function so you will only find it in the online version of PowerPoint. You will find it under the Slide Show tab in the ribbon, alongside other recent new features in PowerPoint, Subtitles and Rehearse with Coach. Going Live On the presenter’s side of things, it is called, “Present Live”. As you will see, the audience view is called PowerPoint Live.Read More →

Day 109 of 365 Ideas for Microsoft 365 is mostly for fun, but also adds an element of privacy. Teams now has almost 2 dozen backgrounds you can use for Teams Meetings, in addition to the blur background they added a few weeks earlier. But you can add your own images as well. First, let’s make sure you know how to choose a background during a meeting. Adding background effects during a meeting This is just like having a green screen, except you don’t need an actual green screen, and it’s automatic. Click on the ellipses, then “Show background effects”. A sidebar will open andRead More →

Meetings in Microsoft Teams have been a great way to continue instructional activities that have traditionally been done face to face. This includes all sorts of class discussions as well as even more traditional teachers delivering content with the possibility of student interactions, questions and answers. This month Microsoft rolled out several enhancements to the meetings in Teams that are particularly useful for teachers using Class Teams with students. This is our topic on Day 108 of 365 Ideas for Microsoft 365. Set Permissions to Attendee Microsoft Teams was designed for transparency and full collaboration, which helps explain why people who join your meeting, particularlyRead More →

Day 107 of 365 Ideas for Microsoft 365 is all about app-smashing to make links to websites clickable in your Stream-hosted videos, thanks to Microsoft Forms integration. This started when I read a comment on Twitter about how nice it is that you can save PowerPoint recordings in Stream for distribution to students. However, it would be nice if the links to websites in the original PowerPoint were still clickable. Of course links inside of videos are NOT clickable, but here you will find a workaround. Uses for links IN videos Let’s consider how this is useful, then get into the “How to”. There areRead More →

Yesterday we looked at the two traditional ways of inserting a file into OneNote, including just adding a link to open the file in the original program (Insert File). The other method is Insert Printout. This also places a link to the original file. In addition, it adds a link to open the file as a PDF. As the name suggests, it also prints out a PDF copy of the entire file on the page in the OneNote Notebook. Today we will check out a new and entirely different option, the “first option” that we skipped over in yesterday’s article. Welcome to Day 106 ofRead More →

OneNote is often described as a digital binder system. I often say that I used to describe OneNote not as a place to create, but a place to store and organize what you create in other places. There are so many creation tools in OneNote that I can no longer say that, but that doesn’t change the fact that OneNote still does an awesome job at storing and organizing (and sharing) content. There are two tabs for inserting content of a document, spreadsheet or presentation onto a page in OneNote.  You can simply add a link to the File, like you could in a WordRead More →
